
- The overall objective of this study is to explore the unmet needs of grandparent-caregivers, as well as the barriers they face in accessing, using, and understanding available resources and services in both rural and urban areas of Utah.
- Specific Aims and related outcomes are:
- AIM 1: To determine, from community service providers’ perspectives, what barriers and facilitators exist in providing services to grandparent-caregivers who live in rural and urban settings in Utah. Outcome: Providers’ perspectives on systemic and logistical barriers and facilitators to service provision.
- AIM 2: To identify unmet needs, facilitators and barriers to knowledge of, access to and use of support services and programs as perceived by grandparent-caregivers who live in rural and urban settings in Utah. Outcome: GPCs’ perspectives about specific unmet needs, facilitators and barriers to knowledge of, access to and use of support services and programs.
- AIM 3: To collaborate with key community partners to develop and refine a podcast, The Grand Experience, aimed to promote public awareness of the grandparent-caregiving phenomenon and services.Outcome: Increased public awareness of the grandparent-caregiving phenomenon and promoted knowledge sharing of research, support services, and programs to a diverse audience.
